When will I be billed?	Travellers are only billed when collecting their car and not during the online reservation process. You will be billed by Europcar South Africa directly. You will however receive instant email confirmation that a car has been secured for you.
Is my booking secure?	Yes ! We do not request your Credit Card number when booking over the Internet. You book directly onto Europcar's live reservation system - the largest car hire group in South Africa. If the vehicle needs to be towed in case of accident, the renter is liable for the towing fee. Second spare wheel (on request for certain car groups- please advise Cape Spirit during reservation) R 650 per rental Cape Spirit Customers may reserve a GPS Satellite Navigation unit prior to arrival in South Africa to avoid the disappointment of no units being available due to the high demand. GPS units are available at Cape Town, Johannesburg, Durban and Port Elizabeth Airports only. The GPS unit may only be collected from and returned to Car Hire branches at these locations. GPS Rental cost is R 59 per day. Refundable GPS Excess deposit is R1500. All Charges exclude 14% VAT. Credit Card and ID / Passport compulsory, minimum age 21 years. If you require a GPS please request this in the final step of your reservation with Europcar through Cape Spirit by ticking the GPS box.
Is there an Excess and how does the Excess work with Car Rentals?	International Visitors (non SA Passport): We offer a NO EXCESS for all Visitors holding a non South African passport! Your car is fully insured in case of accident and theft (see terms and conditions) South African Citizens (SA Passport / ID): There is a small excess for all South African citizens. The excess amounts for SA Citizens are some of the lowest in the SA car hire industry. South African Citizens ONLY (ZERO EXCESS FOR INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT HOLDERS): A South African Citizen is liable for the excess amount in the event of theft / accident if you have not acted recklessly. The excess is authorised (reserved) over your credit card as a deposit when collecting the Car and released (refunded) back to you when returning the Car in the same condition. The excess for (only) South Africans is as follows: Group J and A - R 1800 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group T - R 1850 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group B - R 2500 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group C - R 2700 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group D - R 3000 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group V - R 3500 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group F - R 4000 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group S - R 4700 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group W - R 5000 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group H - R 5100 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group O - R 5250 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) Group E - R 5500 (South African Passport holders only, Nill excess for Non-SA Passport holders) There is a ZERO excess for all the above groups for anyone with a non SA passport. Petrol Deposit?	There is a R2000 Petrol Deposit with Europcar South Africa. The Petrol Deposit is authorised (reserved) over your credit card when collecting the Car and released (refunded) back to you when returning the Car with a full tank of petrol again (you receive a full tank when collecting the car)
Contract fee?	R 40 per booking (not per day)
What documents are required when I collect the Car ? Credit Card & Drivers License & ID / Passport	You must have a valid Credit Card to collect your car. (Visa, Mastercard and Diners accepted) No Debit Cards, including Maestro and Electron, are accepted. The Credit Card MUST be in the Driver's name. The Driver must hold a Valid Drivers License and must be present during the Car Rental. Driver/s must have obtained their license at least two years prior to renting a vehicle. Driver/s must also present a valid ID or Passport, as well as the Booking Voucher that you receive in your email after online reservation. (no booking voucher – no car) Please note that although we do not request your Credit Card details during the reservation, it is still compulsory to have a valid credit card and present it to the Car rental office during the collection of your car. No cash or debit cards are accepted. International Customers: If your original drivers license is in English it may be used. Otherwise please apply for an International Drivers License and bring this with your original drivers license. (An official certified translation of the foreign license in English together with your original drivers license will also be accepted. The certification can normally be obtained from your Licensing department.)
Other Important Info	Please note: Water and under-carriage damage to vehicles is NOT covered. (this is standard for SA Car Rental companies - If you like to insure Water and under-carriage damage as well as car hire excesses worldwide, visit our preferred Supplier Insurance4carhire for annual cover, or Dailyexcess for daily cover.) Please note that you book a specific car group and can receive any car within the group that you have booked. You can view the different car groups and cars within each group here. A one-way drop off charge of R700 is levied for rentals terminating in excess of 150 kilometres from the original rental branch. Towbar or trailers can unfortunately not be offered by Europcar. South Africa to Mozambique and Zambia – Only car groups J, A, T, B, C, D & F are allowed into Mozambique and Zambia.
