| Is my booking secure? | Yes ! We do not request your Credit Card number when booking over the Internet. You book directly onto Europcar's live reservation system - the largest car hire group in South Africa. | What is Included and Excluded in the Rates below? | Included in our great Car Rental package: Excluded: Cape Spirit™ Customers may reserve a GPS unit prior to arrival in South Africa to avoid the disappointment of no units being available due to the high demand. GPS units are available at all EUROPCAR branches in South Africa. The GPS unit may be collected from and returned to any Europcar Car Hire Branch in South Africa. GPS Rental cost is R 69 per day (include 14% VAT). Credit Card and ID / Passport compulsory, minimum age 21 years. If you require a GPS please request this in the final step of your reservation with Europcar through Cape Spirit™ by ticking the GPS box. Europcar requires 48 hours notice for a GPS reservation to guarantee a unit, please ensure that you book at least 48 hours in advance if you require a GPS rental. |
| Is there an Excess and how does the Excess work with Car Rentals? | Excess on Classic Plus Cover: The Excess Amount for Classic Plus Cover is different for International and South Africa passport holders: Excess on Classic Plus Cover: International Pasport holders We offer ZERO EXCESS for all International Visitors (holding a non South African passport) who choose our Classic Plus Cover. Your car is fully insured in case of accident and theft if you choose Classic Plus Cover (see terms and conditions) Excess on Classic Plus Cover: South African Pasport holders South African Citizens (SA Passport / ID): There is a small excess for all South African citizens choosing our Classic Plus Cover. The excess amounts for SA Citizens are some of the lowest in the SA car hire industry. Excess on Classic Cover (International and South African Pasport holders): If you choose Classic Cover, there is an excess on your car rental. The Renter is liable for the excess amount in the event of theft / accident if you have not acted recklessly. The excess is authorised (reserved) over your credit card as a deposit when collecting the Car and released (refunded) back to you when returning the Car in the same condition. The Excess amounts for the Classic Cover is as follows: Group A - R 6600 (Classic excess too high? Then choose our Classic Plus option to reduce the excess) Cross Border Excess: CROSS BORDER EXCESS (Local and International Travellers - contact Cape Spirit™ before booking a cross border). The excess amount will be different if you travel over the South African borders. |
| Petrol Deposit? | There is a R2000 Petrol Deposit with Europcar South Africa. The Petrol Deposit is authorised (reserved) over your credit card when collecting the Car and released (refunded) back to you when returning the Car with a full tank of petrol again (you receive a full tank when collecting the car) |

| What documents are required when I collect the Car ? Credit Card & Drivers License & ID / Passport | You must have a valid Credit Card to collect your car. (Visa, Mastercard and Diners accepted. Local or International credit cards welcome.) No Debit Cards, including Maestro and Electron, are accepted. No cheque cards are accepted. The Credit Card MUST be in the Driver's name. The Driver must hold a Valid Drivers License and must be present during the Car Rental. Driver/s must have legally driven in their home country on their home country's drivers license for at least two years prior to renting a vehicle. Driver/s must also present a valid ID or Passport, as well as the Booking Voucher that you receive in your email after online reservation. (no booking voucher – no car) Please note that although we do not request your Credit Card details during the reservation, it is still compulsory to have a valid credit card and present it to the Car rental office during the collection of your car. No cash or debit cards are accepted. (South African credit cards - please note that budget facility transactions are not allowed - only straight transactions) International Customers: You will be required to apply for an International Drivers license (in English) if your Drivers License is not in English. Alternatively you can also get an English translation from your Traffic Department in your home country (on the Traffic Department's official letterhead / stamped / certified by your Traffic Department) if your drivers license is not in English. All other requirements and terms and conditions remain the same. Please take your Original Drivers License together with your International Drivers license OR your Original Drivers License together with the Official English translation from your local Traffic Department to South Africa. If your drivers license is in English you do not have to apply for an International Drivers license or translation. |
| Other Important Info | Please note: Water and under-carriage damage to vehicles is NOT covered. (this is standard for SA Car Rental companies - If you like to insure Water and under-carriage damage as well as car hire excesses worldwide, visit our preferred Supplier Car Rental Excess Insurance.) Please note that you book a specific car group and can receive any car within the group that you have booked. You can view the different car groups and cars within each group here. A one-way drop off charge of R750 is levied for rentals terminating in excess of 150 kilometres from the original rental branch. Towbar or trailers can unfortunately not be offered by Europcar. If you plan to hire more than one car at the same time, please contact Cape Spirit™ before making your booking.If you will be travel over the SA borders you have to contact Cape Spirit™ before making your booking! From South Africa vehicles are allowed into Botswana, Lesotho, Namibia, Swaziland, Mozambique and Zambia. Vehicles are not allowed into Angola or Zimbabwe. A non refundable fee of R 1300 will be levied for vehicles crossing into Mozambique and Zambia. For Botswana, Swaziland, Namibia and Lesotho a R 550 cross border charge will be levied.
